Experience
Dr. Ananth Chikkatur (Ph.D., Physics, MIT) is a Research Associate in the STPP and ENRP's Energy Technology Innovation Policy project. After completing his doctorate in physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2002, Dr. Chikkatur spent a year in India to learn firsthand about energy and development issues. In 2004, Dr. Chikkatur joined ETIP as a post-doctoral Research Fellow. In 2007, he taught a class on "Sustainable Development" as an Adjunct Lecturer in Boston University's Department of International Affairs.
Dr. Chikkatur's research at ETIP is mainly focused on devising better policies for advancing cleaner coal-power technologies in India. In addition, he is working on broader energy policies in India, including promoting energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. More recently, Dr. Chikkatur has been working with the Indian Planning Commission on a project to assess policy issues in the Indian coal and coal-power sectors. His current research interests include technology innovation, cleaner coal-power technologies, energy efficiency, small-scale/rural energy systems, and the politics of, and responses to, climate change.
