During the Spring 2015 semester, Prof. Hudson hosted a distinguished group of scholars s to re-examine the foundational concepts of legitimacy, the state, civil society, religion, and regional stability in the wake of the Arab Uprisings. The sessions covered a broad range of countries and topics, including the relatively stable states such as Egypt and Saudi Arabia, to 'failed' states like Syria, Iraq, and Yemen, as well as theoretical issues of legitimacy, the political and economic realities of daily life in the Middle East, and the past and future U.S. role in the region.
