The Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs will host a Directors' Seminar with Mary Gade on Thursday, November 13th in the Belfer Center Library (L369).
Mary Gade is President of Gade Environmental Group LLC and former Regional Administrator, Region 5, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. EPA Region 5 Administrator is a presidential appointee responsible for the federal environmental programs for the states of Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota and 35 Tribal Governments. Gade was the Director of the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency for eight years and a regulator and lawyer at EPA for thirteen years.
A member of George W. Bush’s Environmental Transition Team in 2001, Gade was forced to resign as EPA Region 5 Administrator in 2008 because of a dispute about Region 5’s aggressive effort to clean up decades-old dioxin pollution downstream from Dow Chemical headquarters in Midland, Michigan.
