Venerable Pomnyun is a Buddhist Monk and renowned humanitarian from South Korea. He is also the recipient of the prestigious 2002 Ramon Magsaysay Award for Peace and International Understanding, often referred to as the Nobel Peace Prize of Asia.
As the founder of Good Friends Society and the Sharing Movement in the mid 1990’s, Venerable Pomnyun led the humanitarian effort to aid the North Koreans during the decade-long famine. Through his humanitarian work in North Korea, Venerable Pomnyun has established an extensive and reliable network of information about North Korea.
