About
Ethics and International Affairs Seminar which will be kicking off this Thursday March 12 from 2:30-4:00 in K-262 (the Bowie-Kuhn room) at the Harvard Weatherhead Center. After a brief hiatus, we are delighted to bring together scholars to explore a broad range of ethical issues relevant to international politics.
In the past our participants have come from a variety of backgrounds.
Some speakers have taken a philosophical perspective, seeking to apply moral theory to practical problems such as humanitarian intervention or global distributive justice. Others have adopted a more empirical approach, addressing current issues including global poverty and the economics of AIDS drug provision in Africa. Regardless of background or methodological persuasion, we seek primarily to examine the area where the normative and empirical dimensions of international politics meet.
We are delighted that Professor Stanley Hoffmann, the Paul and Catherine Buttenwieser University Professor and seminar chair, will give our opening talk on the state of ethics in international affairs.
We hope this will lay the groundwork as we move forward and would be delighted to have you join us. Participants are welcome from all schools and seminar events are open to the public.
