International Business and Human Rights: Mutually Incompatible?

About

Mr. Schoenberger's book is a broad analysis of corporate policy-making on ethical issues relating to human rights and labor standards, using a case study of Levi Strauss & Co. as a focus. The book describes the difficulty Levi Strauss has had living up to its high ethical ideals while strugggling against a deteriorating business performance. It probes the cost-benefit equation of corporate social responsibility, and asks whether there mights be systemic solutions for the conundrum of alleged corporate complicity in human rights violations and labor abuse in the global market.
