The Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs will host a Director's Seminar with David Rothkopf, CEO and Editor of the FP Group, in the Belfer Library (L369).

Rothkopf will discuss his new book, “National Insecurity: American Leadership in an Era of Fear,” and the event will be co-moderated by Graham Allison and Nicholas Burns. As expressed in a lead up to his new book, Rothkopf describes the current Presidency, “Obama's presidency is largely a product of…the decade after 9/11, during which a stunned, angry, and disoriented America was sent spinning into a kind of national PTSD.” (FP, 9/10/14)

David J. Rothkopf is CEO and Editor of the FP Group, where he oversees all editorial, publishing, event and other operations of the company, publishers of Foreign Policy Magazine. He is also the President and CEO of Garten Rothkopf, an international advisory company specializing in global political risk, energy, resource, technology and emerging markets issues based in Washington, DC.  In addition, Mr. Rothkopf is a visiting scholar at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace where he directs the Bernard L. Schwartz Program in Competitiveness and Growth Strategies, Chairman of the Strategic Research Forum and serves or has recently served as a member of the Advisory Boards of the Center for Global Development, the Center for the Study of the Presidency, the U.S. Institute of Peace and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

He is the author of numerous other books including "Power, Inc.", "Superclass" and "Running the World."  He writes a weekly column for Foreign Policy, is a regular columnist for CNN and is a frequent contributor to leading newspapers, magazines including The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Financial Times, CNN, Newsweek, Time, and many others.

Previously, he served as CEO of Intellibridge Corporation, Managing Director of Kissinger Associates and as both U.S. Deputy Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade and as Acting Under Secretary for International Trade, in which he directed the activities of the 2,400 person International Trade Administration during the Clinton Administration.
