The Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs is proud to host a Director's Seminar on "The Neglected Homeland" with Stephen Flynn, Jeane J. Kirkpatrick Senior Fellow in National Security Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations. Dr. Flynn is also the author of the new best-seller "America The Vulnerable: How our Government is Failing to Protect us from Terrorism." "America The Vulnerable" is a critical assessment of America’s homeland security efforts and it provides a practical plan for achieving security in a more effective and manageable way.

Dr. Flynn served as the author of the CFR task force report, "America: Still Unprepared, Still in Danger," co-chaired by former Senators Gary Hart and Warren Rudman. He spent twenty years as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Coast Guard where is was assigned to two commands at sea, served in the White House Military Office during the George H.W. Bush administration, and as director for Global Issues on the National Security Council staff during the Clinton administration.
