PREVENTING VIOLENT EXTREMISM:THE UK EXPERIENCE
A CONVERSATION WITH ASSISTANT CHIEF CONSTABLE JOHN WRIGHT
ACC John Wright is the United Kingdom's policing lead for PREVENT, a key pillar of the UK Government's international counter-terrorism policy known as CONTEST, which focuses on preventing violent extremism. ACC Wright is also the strategic lead for the UK Police Service's covert intelligence role in national security and counter terrorism.
ACC Wright will highlight the experience of the UK since the bombings in London and Glasgow, including the development of the PREVENT strategy, which received input from a previous MPP2 PAE exercise. Given the recent arrests of suspected violent extremists in New York and Boston and the continued terrorist threat from abroad - what lessons can the UK offer the US and other countries?
