To compete and thrive in the 21st century, democracies, and the United States in particular, must develop new national security and economic strategies that address the geopolitics of information. In the 20th century, market capitalist democracies geared infrastructure, energy, trade, and even social policy to protect and advance that era’s key source of power—manufacturing. In this century, democracies must better account for information geopolitics across all dimensions of domestic policy and national strategy.
2019-2020 BIGA Student Fellows
The Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs is pleased to offer a fellowship program to support MPP students who have a demonstrated interest in science and international affairs. The fellowship awards are intended to offset education expenses and permit students to choose initial employment that reflects their interests rather than the need to pay off education debts.
Belfer IGA (BIGA) Student Fellows have the opportunity to participate in policy research in association with the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, HKS’s oldest and largest research center. After completing an information form over the summer, Belfer IGA fellows will be paired with a research project or program at the Belfer Center where they will observe and participate in policy research. These awards offer students the opportunity to spend five hours per week on research assistance to Belfer Center projects and programs, and provide a unique opportunity for mentorship by leading faculty and researchers.
