A Harvard University lecturer describes meeting Former US President George Bush on a visit to Oman. The lecturer was concerned Bush was a member of a group of Texan businessmen and may therefore be using his past political role inappropriately, even though it was quite legal.

The Universities Project established by the Salzburg Seminars aims to play a role in reviving higher education in Eastern and Central Europe. Seminars have addressed issues including the financial difficulties suffered by provincial universities in Russia and the repercussions of information technology for universities in the region.
