Julia Voo Named Research Director for Belfer Center’s China Cyber Policy Initiative

Harvard Kennedy School’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs has named Julia Voo Research Director for the Belfer Center’s new China Cyber Policy Initiative. Within the Initiative, Voo will lead the Center's U.S.-China: Controlling Confrontation in Cyberspace project, a Track 2 dialogue with the China Institute for International Strategic Studies - a joint collaboration to facilitate discussion and develop policy recommendations for both the U.S. and China on the risks of cyber conflict.

Harvard Kennedy School’s Belfer Center Names Directors for Cyber Projects

The Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard Kennedy School has named Lauren Zabierek, Maria Barsallo Lynch, and Julia Voo to head three of the Center’s growing cyber-related projects. They will run the Center’s Cyber Project, Defending Digital Democracy Project, and China Cyber Policy Initiative, respectively.

A Case for Fortifying the BUILD Act: The U.S., China, and Internet Infrastructure in the Global South

A well-resourced USDFC as a result of the BUILD Act will support U.S. companies and provide competitive alternatives for the Global South. Prioritizing U.S. support in the telecommunications sector will also help balance China’s growing strategic influence in cyberspace. However, reports suggest that the USDFC’s financial resources will be much less than originally planned. These resources are needed to level the playing field. This paper outlines why.

U.S.-China Cybersecurity Group Explores Mutual Interests, Goals

In April, the China Institute for International Strategic Studies (CIISS) joined the Belfer Center’s Cyber Project in hosting their second working group meeting, a Track II dialogue to facilitate discussions between the U.S. and China  on the risks of cyber conflict. The meeting, which included representatives from both countries’ tech sectors, explored existing and new tools for mitigating these risks and looking into possible areas for collaboration.

Belfer Center Convenes U.S.-China Cyber Security Working Group

Harvard Kennedy School’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs hosted the second working group with the China Institute for International Strategic Studies (CIISS), a Track II Dialogue to facilitate discussions between the U.S. and China, as well as representatives from both countries’ tech sectors, on the risks of cyber conflict. The Track II will explore existing and new tools for mitigating these risks and possible areas for collaboration.
