Cecilia Han Springer will be presenting on "China's Belt and Road Initiative: A Clean Energy Paradox." The talk will focus on an empirical analysis of the relative environmental performance of China's overseas investments in coal-fired power plants.

As always, this event is free and open to the public; buffet-style lunch will be served.

UN COP25: Multilateral Responses to Climate Change from an Interdisciplinary Perspective

Harvard University Center for the Environment (HUCE), the Environment and Natural Resources Program (ENRP) at Harvard's Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, the Institute for Sustainable Energy at Boston University, and the Real Colegio Complutense at Harvard (RCC) invite you for a special discussion of the 2019 UN Climate Change Conference (COP25) on Monday, December 2 from 10:00 AM-1:00 PM. HUCE will host the day's events at 26 Oxford St. (4th floor), Cambridge, MA.

This event will take place on the inaugural day of the COP25, which will be hosted in Madrid from December 2-13. Associated COP25 events will take place around the world in partnership with the Spanish government. This Cambridge conference will feature Spain's Secretary of Energy, Jose Dominguez, and Boston's Consul General of Spain, Fernando Alvargonzalez.

Ted Halstead, Chairman and CEO of the Climate Leadership Council, will visit HKS to present on "A Climate Solution Where All Sides Win." This seminar is adapted from Halstead's TED Talk of the same title.

In addition to being a climate expert, Halstead is also an author, policy entrepreneur and public speaker. He previously founded two other influential think tanks, including New America, and more recently founded Americans For Carbon Dividends, an advocacy organization.

This seminar series is free and open to the public; lunch will be served.

What It Takes to Build Climate Resilience: A Conversation with David Festa

Join the Environment and Natural Resources Program (ENRP) for a conversation with David Festa, Senior Vice President of Ecosystems at the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), about what it takes to build climate resilience. David will look at the three major challenges to most climate adaptation projects: financing, building equity, and aligning diverse stakeholders and conflicting policy structures. He’ll share lessons learned from his years of work at EDF on water rights and coastal erosion in dialogue with Professor Henry Lee, ENRP Director.
