Geopolitics of Energy Project

Join us for the first Energy Policy Seminar of Fall 2022. James Stock, Harvard's Vice Provost for Climate and Sustainability and the Harold Hitchings Burbank Professor of Political Economy in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, will provide an overview of the new Salata Institute for Climate and Sustainability. Meghan O'Sullivan, the Jeane Kirkpatrick Professor of the Practice of International Affairs and the Director of the Geopolitics of Energy Project at Harvard Kennedy School (HKS), will then discuss "The New Geopolitics of Energy."

HKS Professor Joe Aldy will moderate the seminar and Q&A. Buffet-style lunch will be served.

The Rational Middle Energy Series is a series of short films created by Gregory Kallenberg and the team that produced the acclaimed documentary, “Haynesville: A Nation’s Hunt for An Energy Future.” Through their travels with “Haynesville,” Gregory Kallenberg and his team saw that there was a need and desire for a balanced discussion about today’s energy issues. This desire culminated in the Rational Middle Energy Series. Rational Middle films “The Great Transition” and “The Methane Question” will be shown, followed by a panel discussion.

Please join us for a breakfast conversation between Lord Browne, Executive Chairman of L1 Energy and former CEO of BP, and Meghan O'Sullivan, Jeane Kirkpatrick Professor of the Practice of International Affairs and Director of the Geopolitics of Energy Project. Lord Browne will discuss the consequences of the new energy environment for society, as well as his new book, Connect.

A seminar with Minister Falah Mustafa Bakir, Head of the Department of Foreign Relations, Kurdistan Regional Government.

The Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs will host a seminar with Yossie Hollander, in the Belfer Center Library (L369). Henry Lee, Director of the Environment and Natural Resources Program, will moderate.

The Geopolitics of Energy Project at Harvard Kennedy School is excited to announce the second annual Energy Policy Case Competition. The case competition will be facilitated by Professor Meghan O'Sullivan, Director of the Geopolitics of Energy Project at the Harvard Kennedy School.
