Ukraine Today, Taiwan Tomorrow?

Mon., May 2, 2022 | 2:00pm - 3:15pm

Rubenstein Building - David T. Ellwood Democracy Lab, Room 414AB

As the world closely watches the war in Ukraine, the question of whether or not Taiwan could be the next location of a similar attack has risen throughout policy and academic circles. Even though China has publicly stated that Ukraine and Taiwan are completely different circumstances, are there parallels or indications that Beijing is altering its strategy towards Taiwan? Furthermore, are there critical lessons that can be learned which will bolster Taiwan's defense? Please join the Defense Project and the Taiwan Workshop at the Fairbank Center for a conversation on these topics led by Steven Goldstein, former Sophia Smith Professor of Government, Emeritus, Smith College, Associate of the Fairbank Center and director of the Taiwan Studies Workshop at Harvard University.

This discussion will be moderated by Chris Li, Director of Research at the Asia-Pacific Initiative, and Fellow at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs.
