Kevin Uniacke
Kevin Uniacke started his lifelong pursuit of service with his acceptance to the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs in 2005. After enjoying the academic and military rigors of the Academy, Kevin made the difficult decision to leave school to pursue a long-term humanitarian mission to Africa. During his hiatus from the military, he researched, secured funding, and launched a volunteer mission to work with two nonprofit organizations in South Africa and Kenya. The organizations he worked with provided valuable insight into the challenges experienced by nongovernmental organizations working in conflict-plagued countries. Kevin personally identified several issues in the aid distribution process that stymied well-intentioned efforts to better people’s lives.
Recognizing a need to build his professional resume and quantitative skills before returning to the nonprofit sector to work on these issues, Kevin earned his commission and secured top honors in multiple U.S. Air Force formal training courses. He went on to establish a successful career working as a Security Cooperation Officer for Africa at Ramstein Air Base, Germany. In his official capacity, he observed the importance of developing coherent, impactful, and long-term policy initiatives in order to address some of the core development and security issues experienced by countries plagued by violence. After ten years of exemplary service on Active Duty, Kevin chose to join the HKS MC-MPA program in order to better align U.S. national security policy with key global strategic partners in an effort to increase the quality of life for marginalized communities across the globe.
