Seminar - Open to the Public

Critical Materials and Battery Sustainability

Thu., June 23, 2022 | 11:00am - 12:00pm

Online

Please join the Environment and Natural Resources Program (ENRP) for a seminar on "Critical Materials and Battery Sustainability," featuring Predoctoral Research Fellow Xin Sun. ENRP Director Henry Lee will moderate.

The clean energy transition will require secure supplies of critical materials, such as lithium for batteries and rare earth metals for electric motors. This seminar will provide an overview of how these critical materials have been extracted, processed, and used in the past. The seminar will also address the uncertainties that exist around future material markets and related sustainability issues and offer potential solutions to these problems.

Attendance: This event is open to the public and hosted on Zoom. For those who cannot attend live, the seminar will be recorded and available to watch on this page.

Accessibility: Persons with disabilities who wish to request accommodations or who have questions about access, please contact Elizabeth Hanlon (ehanlon@hks.harvard.edu) in advance of the session.
