Robert Stavins Named to the Energy and Environmental Markets Advisory Committee at the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission

Robert Stavins, Albert Pratt Professor of Business and Government at Harvard Kennedy School and a member of the Board of Directors at the school's Belfer Center, has been appointed to a new position in the Energy and Environmental Markets Advisory Committee at the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

NEW MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION PROCESS
In addition, as part of the journal's efforts to improve its editorial process, International Security has moved to Editorial Manager, an online manuscript managing system used by over 2,800 journals. You can access the new site at http://isec.edmgr.com.

Graham Allison, director of the Harvard Kennedy School's Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, will receive the 2009 National Academy of Sciences' Award for Behavioral Research Relevant to the Prevention of Nuclear War on Sunday, April 26, 2009, in Washington, D.C. He is being honored for illuminating alternative ways of thinking about political decision making with special relevance to crises, including nuclear crises, as demonstrated in his groundbreaking Essence of Decision: Explaining the Cuban Missile Crisis and subsequent works.

Belfer Center’s Arnold Bogis Helps Develop Educational Video Game to Train First Responders

Harvard Kennedy School's Belfer Center Fellow Arnold Bogis provided policy analysis during the development of "Zero Hour: America’s Medic," a video game-based learning tool recently released by George Washington University’s National Emergency Medical Services Preparedness Initiative (NEMSPI). “Zero Hour” is designed to train and exercise Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and other first responder communities through a series of virtual simulations based on planning scenarios developed by the Department of Homeland Security.

Juliette Kayyem, undersecretary of homeland security for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and a former executive director and current member (on leave) of the board of directors of Harvard Kennedy School’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, has been named Assistant Secretary of Intergovernmental Programs of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). She previously served as executive director for research at the Belfer Center and taught courses in public policy at Harvard Kennedy School.
