Belfer Center Director Professor Meghan O'Sullivan, MEI Senior Fellow Mohammed Alyahya, Managing Director and Global Head of Commodity Strategy at RBC Capital Markets Dr. Helima Croft and Global Energy & Climate Innovation Editor at The Economist Vijay Vaitheeswaran, will discuss the effects of the 1973 Oil Embargo and the current geopolitics of energy. Opening remarks will be delivered by MEI Faculty Chair Professor Tarek Masoud.

Professors Mai Hassan and Alex de Waal will discuss the current situation in Sudan with MEI Senior Fellow and former Prime Minister of Tuinisa Dr. Youssef Chahed.

MEI Senior Fellow Mohammed Alyahya will lead a study group on great power competition in the Arabian Gulf, taking place on select Tuesdays between September 26 and November 28.

Architect and urban planner Tareq Nassar will discuss his ongoing efforts to revitalize the rooftops of East Jerusalem with MEI Senior Fellow James Snyder as part of his ongoing "In Conversation" series.
 

Nathan J. Brown, Professor of Political Science and International Affairs at George Washington University's Elliot School of International Affairs, and Shibley Telhami, nonresident Senior Fellow with the Center for Middle East Policy in the Foreign Policy program at Brookings and Anwar Sadat Professor for Peace and Development at the University of Maryland, will discuss their new book, The One State Reality: What Is Israel-Palestine?, with former Ambassador to Israel and Syria Edward P. Djerejian.

Marking the passage of 20 years since the onset of Operation Iraqi Freedom, MEI Faculty Director Professor Tarek Masoud will moderate this panel featuring: Meghan O’Sullivan, Jeane Kirkpatrick Professor of the Practice of International Affairs, HKS; Kanan Makiya, Professor Emeritus of Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies at Brandeis University and author, Republic of Fear: The Politics of Modern Iraq (University of California Press, 1989); and Emma Sky, OBE, founding Director of Yale’s International Leadership Center and former political advisor to the Commanding General of U.S. Forces in Iraq.
