Belfer Center Newsletter Spring 2013

| Spring 2013

The Spring 2013 issue of the Belfer Center newsletter features recent and upcoming activities, research, and analysis by members of the Center community on critical global issues. This edition highlights the Belfer Center’s deepening engagement with China. In January, Belfer Center Director Graham Allison traveled to Beijing along with Harvard Kennedy School Dean David Ellwood, the Belfer Center's Richard Rosecrance and Joseph Nye, and Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation Director Tony Saich for a conference with Chinese scholars and practitioners. Also in January, a team from the Center’s Project on Managing the Atom traveled to China to take part in workshops on nuclear energy planning and nuclear safety and security.

In this issue, we also spotlight Belfer Center affiliates holding key positions in the second Obama administration; among them are Deputy Secretary of Defense Ashton B. Carter and Assistant to the President for Science and Technology John P. Holdren. This issue also highlights a number of new faces in and around the Belfer Center, including new Executive Director for Research Gary Samore and new International Security Program faculty member Dara Kay Cohen.
