Israel's Election
Strategic Comment
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faces the most serious political challenge to his premiership for the past decade in the general election on 9 April. Despite being beset with corruption allegations and facing meaningful opposition, Netanyahu remains the most likely contender to form Israel's next government, although it is unclear how stable such a government might be. There have been some noteworthy political and economic achievements during his time in office, but Netanyahu has also eschewed any substantive strategic vision for Israel's future, especially regarding its future relationship with the Palestinians. Whether Netanyahu or a successor, whoever governs Israel after April will be confronted with a succession of serious and interrelated strategic challenges....
