Three young public servants from Azerbaijan arrived in July at the Kennedy School to embark on a year-long mid-career program. The students represent a new generation of leaders in Azerbaijan: Fuad Akhundov is Senior Inspector in the National Central Bureau of Interpol; Tahir Kerimov is a Senior Specialist in the President''s Foreign Relations Department; and Ramin Isayev is a Senior Economist for the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR).
The three students are part of the largest group of students ever at the Kennedy School from the former Soviet Union. This year''s incoming group includes twelve students from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russia, and Ukraine.
In addition to these three students, four Azerbaijani public servants have enrolled in Kennedy School Executive Education Programs under the auspices of BCSIA''s Caspian Studies Program which is sponsored by the US-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce (USACC) and a consortium of its member companies.
As part of the Caspian Program, the Azerbaijan Initiative includes USACC fellowships which will fund four mid-career program students and ten Executive Education Program participants'' studies at the Kennedy School over the next two years.
