Nicholas Burns: Trump and his administration 'have to learn that we need our allies'

Professor Burns speaks with ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) about the tense weekend phone call between President Trump and Prime Minister Turnbull.

"I think there is something unusual happening. The Trump administration has been aggressively critical of many of the allies - Mexico, Australia, Germany, just three this week - and yet not at all critical of Russia.

I think President Trump has it backwards. He ought to be tough on Russia and he ought to have a respectful, friendly alliance relationship with the Australian Prime Minister."
