Russia has many highly-trained mathematicians, scientists, and engineers and has an opportunity to become a significant player in the information revolution. A strengthened information technology sector could help improve Russia''s economic development and sustain a more open society.
The potential of Russia''s information industry was highlighted and demonstrated by a number of American and Russian participants at the recent U.S.-Russian Investment Symposium where one of the plenary panel sessions focused on "High Technology Developments as Investment Opportunities."
