Dennis Murphy

Dennis Murphy is a PhD candidate at Georgia Tech and predoctoral fellow in the International Security Program. His research focuses on the intersection of technology, security, and political economy. Advised by Jon Lindsay, his dissertation explores how and under what circumstances frontier AI affects the balance of military power between the United States and China. He is also a security fellow at the Frontier Security Institute, a graduate fellow at the UC Berkeley Risk & Security Lab, and an adjunct researcher at the RAND Corporation.. 

Previously, Dennis was a research associate at Lawrence Livermore National Lab's Center for Global Security Research, a Hans J Morgenthau fellow at Notre Dame, an AI governance fellow in the Astra program at Berkeley, an ERA research fellow hosted at Cambridge University, and a two-time summer associate at the RAND Corporation. He holds graduate degrees from Johns Hopkins SAIS and Tsinghua University, a B.A. from American University, and an A.A. from Middlesex Community College.
