Karlotta Garinet

Karlotta Garinet is a McCloy, DAAD and Belfer Young Leaders Student Fellow, pursuing a Master in Public Administration at Harvard Kennedy School. She is an active-duty officer in the German Armed Forces with experience in multinational military environments. Her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in psychology, during which she focused on leadership, social psychology, and misinformation and disinformation, strongly inform her approach to security policy and strategic communication. At HKS, her coursework has spanned U.S. national security, international affairs, emerging technologies, and data science. Her research engagements span think tanks, military officer education, and national security advisory work, bringing a practitioner's perspective to questions of how armed forces and governments adapt to technological change. She was a 2024 Ecological Security Fellow at the Council on Strategic Risks and Co-Chair of the United Nations Office for Project Services’ inaugural 30 Below 30 initiative. In this pro-bono role, she advised the UNOPS Executive Director and senior leadership team and represented the organization as a delegate to the 80th UN General Assembly, deepening her understanding of multilateral decision-making and strengthening her ability to navigate the UN system.
