Kate Birkbeck is an Ernest May Fellow in History and Policy at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs. Her book project looks at the international arms trade, federal ordnance policy, and the remaking of armed citizenship after the Civil War.
She received her Ph.D. in History at Yale University and holds previous degrees from the University of Cambridge and University College London. Her writing has appeared in Diplomatic History, Time’s Made by History series and her research has been supported by an emerging scholars award from the Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation.
