Julia Martin

Julia Martin is the Associate Director of the Belfer Center’s Middle East Initiative (MEI) at Harvard Kennedy School (HKS), where she manages program staff and financial resources and supports the faculty chair with strategic planning, fundraising, and program development. Julia has held multiple positions at MEI since 2014, with a brief period away in 2021–22, when she served as Assistant Dean of Administration at the Boston Islamic Seminary (BIS). During this time, she coordinated the launch of the seminary’s inaugural graduate degree program.

Prior to joining MEI as Research Program Coordinator, Julia served as Secretariat Manager for Women in Informal Employment: Globalizing and Organizing (WIEGO), a global network focused on empowering workers in the informal economy, at HKS. She has also held several positions at the Kennedy School’s former Hauser Center for Nonprofit Organizations.

Julia holds a Master of Theological Studies (MTS) from Harvard Divinity School, where she received a full merit scholarship, and a BA, summa cum laude, in religious studies from Florida State University.
