Alexa Kalach

Alexa Kalach is a Master in Public Policy candidate at Harvard Kennedy School, concentrating in national security and emerging technology policy. She is a Research Assistant with the Defense, Emerging Technology, and Strategy (DETS) Program at Harvard's Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, where her research focuses on the implications of emerging technologies for defense policy and strategic competition. Alexa also served as a 2026 Rosenthal Policy Fellow at the U.S. Department of War, Office of the Assistant Secretary of War for Legislative Affairs.

Previously, Alexa worked in the U.S. Department of Justice's Narcotic and Dangerous Drug Section, supporting the federal prosecution of transnational drug trafficking networks including high-profile cartel cases, and in the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Legislative Affairs. Her writing has appeared in The Washington Post, The New York Times, and the HKS Policy Review, among others.

Alexa earned her B.A. with Honors in Economics and Government from Dartmouth College, where her honors thesis examined the political economy of U.S.-sourced firearm trafficking and criminal homicide in Mexico.
