Bertina Kudrin

Bertina Kudrin is a joint J.D./M.P.P. student at NYU School of Law and Harvard Kennedy School. Her work focuses on international law, national security, and U.S. foreign policy, with particular interests in the Middle East, the law of armed conflict, and emerging security challenges. At NYU, she serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of International Law and Politics and served as a teaching assistant to Professor José Alvarez in International Law.

Most recently, Bertina worked in the Office of U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, where she focused on national security and foreign policy. She previously worked in the National Security and Cybercrime section of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York on matters involving terrorism and national security.

Bertina has also written on international law and national security for Lawfare, including on the use of neutral territory during armed conflict and the international law governing the Strait of Hormuz. Her academic research has examined international humanitarian law, military applications of artificial intelligence, and other legal questions arising from contemporary armed conflicts.
