Beatrice Catena

Beatrice is an Italian PhD candidate in War Studies at King's College London and a former Analyst at the NATO Strategic Communications Centre of Excellence in Riga. She joins the International Security Program at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard Kennedy School as a Fulbright Schuman Research Fellow for the 2026–27 academic year. Her doctoral research, supervised by Professor Michael S. Goodman, examines how European countries are adapting their intelligence architectures to hybrid threats, using comparative case studies of Sweden, the United Kingdom, and Ukraine.

Much of her PhD work has been conducted alongside policy work. Prior to her role at NATO StratCom COE, she served as a Project Officer on the EU Countering Foreign Interference project at the EU Institute for Security Studies in Paris. She has been recognised as a GLOBSEC Young Leader (2025), served as a Member of the T7 Peace, Security and Global Governance Task Force (2024), and was named among the 100 Women of the Year by Corriere della Sera (2020).

She holds a Master's in Conflict Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science, where she was awarded the Prize for Best MSc Dissertation (2022), and a BA in International Relations from King's College London.
