Robert Pastor is the Goodrich C. White Professor of Political Science at Emory University. From 1985-98, Dr. Pastor was a Fellow and Founding Director of the Carter Center's Latin American and Caribbean Program and from 1996-98 of the Democracy Program and the China Project. He is the author or editor of twelve books and more than 200 articles on international relations, democratization, economic development, and Latin America and the Caribbean. His most recent books include "A Century's Journey: How The Great Powers Shape the World" (Basic Books, 1999), "The Controversial Pivot: The U.S. Congress and North American Integration" (Brookings, 1998), "Whirlpool: U.S. Foreign Policy to Latin America" (Princeton, 1992), and "Democracy in the Caribbean" (Johns Hopkins, 1993).
