Please join the Belfer Center's Environment and Natural Resources Program for a lively discussion with The Washington Post's national environmental reporter Brady Dennis and The Guardian's Emily Holden.

Reporting on global climate change has never been more challenging. Recent scientific reports from the UN and the federal government warn of disastrous worldwide impacts unless drastic actions to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions are taken. President Trump denies the evidence that human-caused climate change is already contributing to extreme weather events—from California wildfires to Hurricane Harvey. His administration is pushing rollbacks of environmental rules and regulations that protect the environment and curb climate change.

Two prominent Washington, D.C. environment reporters will discuss the difficulties of covering the science, policies and politics of climate change under the Trump Administration. The new Democrat-controlled House provides new opportunities to report on environment and climate in the nation’s capital.

About the Panelists

Brady Dennis has been the national environmental reporter for The Washington Post since 2016, covering real-world impacts of climate change, pollution and how government policies affect communities around the country. He previously covered public health issues and also spent years covering the nation’s economy.  Dennis was a finalist for the 2009 Pulitzer Prize for a series of explanatory stories about the global financial crisis. Before coming to the Post in 2008, he was a reporter for the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times and the Seattle Times.
