About

Dr. McGann, a Senior Lecturer in International Studies and Director of the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program at the University of Pennsylvania’s Lauder Institute, produces the annual Go To Think Tank Index, a ranking of nearly 7,000 think tanks worldwide. McGann will examine how President Trump has impacted the political economy of think thanks, political parties, and policy advice. It is his contention that a mixture of policies, strategies, big data, target marketing, and social media made Trump's victory possible and has transformed electoral politics and poses an existential challenge to policy advice and think tanks in the US. McGann will explore how 21st century communications tactics enabled Trump to cut out the middleman (political, economic, and intellectual establishment) and deliver a customized message to a targeted group of voters.

Lunch will be Served. RSVPs are required, but seating will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
