"For the Common Defense": Students, Fellows, and Faculty engage in open, informal discussion of military-related topics.
The National Security Program and the Belfer Center are co-sponsors of a study group for American military affairs. During more than a decade of conducting operations in support of counterinsurgency efforts, military aviators have needed to tailor their tactics, techniques, and procedures to function in an environment much different from the "high end" of the combat spectrum. At the same time, numerous states maintain military arsenals that can best be countered with the technological and strategic superiority that defined American and coalition success in Desert Storm and the major combat phase of the second Gulf War. Going forward, how can and should Airpower be considered as an instrument of statecraft? The panelists are Col Chris Sage (USAF Fighter Pilot), Col Tim Brown (US Army Helo/ISR Pilot), Lt Col Doug Gosney (USAF Bomber Pilot), and Lt Col Shawn Dawley (USAF Tactical Airlift Pilot). Join us during this session led by current military pilots with extensive air combat experience in numerous conflicts.
