About

Using data from a wide variety of sources, the presentation will describe the current landscape of electronic banking and payments. The analysis will focus on the economic significance of developments in electronic payment media, such as electronic money, and retail electronic payment processes, especially electronic bill payment and the emergence of electronic bill presentment. In addition, the presentation will draw on a unique data set of all banks offering transactional Internet banking to separate fact from fiction surrounding the level of activity and the growth of online banking. Finally, emerging public policy issues and directions for future research will be identified.
