HIIP Seminar - Internet Governance: Where Are We Now??
We may be at a defining moment in the governance of the Internet. The U.S. government has proposed transferring the management of certain technical functions in the Internet to a private non-profit corporation. The details of this corporation are being worked out over the next few weeks. The basic idea seems to have general support but a number of the important details remain contentious, including the level of involvement of the technical community in the decision making process. This talk will briefly examine the process that brought us to this point and then discuss some of the unresolved issues.
