As part of South Asia Week 2014, hosted jointly by the India and South Asia Program and the Future of Diplomacy Project (Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, Harvard Kennedy School) and the South Asia Institute (Harvard University), the Ambassador of India to the United States will discuss the future of the US-India relationship.
Dr. Jaishankar assumed his responsibilities as Ambassador of India to the United States in December 2013. Most recently, Dr. Jaishankar was the Ambassador of India to China (2009-2013). Prior to that he served as High Commissioner to Singapore, head of the Americas Division at the Ministry of External Affairs, and Ambassador to the Czech Republic, respectively. Dr.Jaishankar joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1977 and has served before in Washington, D.C., as First Secretary from 1985 to 1988.
