International Environmental Research Programmes and the Sustainability Challenge

About

Jill J?ger is Executive Director of the International Human Dimensions Programme on Global Environmental Change. She has worked as a consultant on energy, environment, and climate for numerous national and international organizations, including: the Federal German Environment Agency (Umweltbundesamt, UBA), Berlin; the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP); the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), Laxenburg, Austria; the International Meteorological Institute, University of Stockholm; the OECD, Paris; the Canadian Government; the Commonwealth Secretariat, London; the Beijer Institute and Stockholm Environment Institute, Stockholm. In November 1991 J?ger was Director of the Climate Policy Division of the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy, Wuppertal, Germany. In September 1994 she joined the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA, Laxenburg) as Deputy Director for Programs, where she was responsible for the implementation and coordination of the research program. From October 1996 until May 1998 she was Deputy Director of IIASA. J?ger's main fields of interest are the development of policies in response to climate change and the linkages between science and policy in the development of responses to global environmental issues.
