Join Career Ambassador Jim Jeffrey as he reflects on his life in public service and diplomacy as part of our new "Negotiator" series. He will also discuss the deteriorating situation in Iraq, where he served as Ambassador from 2010-2012. Professors Nicholas Burns and Meghan O'Sullivan will moderate this event.

Ambassador Jeffrey served as ambassador to Turkey (2008-2010) and Iraq (2010-2012). He also served as deputy national security advisor for President George W. Bush. His earlier assignments at the State Department include: principal deputy assistant secretary for the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, senior advisor on Iraq to the Secretary of State, chargé d'affaires and deputy chief of mission in Baghdad, deputy chief of mission in Ankara and ambassador in Albania. From 1969 to 1976, Ambassador Jeffrey served as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army.
