The Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs will host a Director's Lunch with Major General Yaakov Amidror, Anne and Greg Rosshandler Senior Fellow at Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies, Bar-Illan University, in the Belfer Center Library (L369).
Major General Yaakov Amidror comes to us with an impeccable background in Israeli defense. From 1966 – 2002, Major General Amidror served with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). He held a variety of positions including: Commander of the IDF Military Colleges, Military Secretary for the Minister of Defense, Director of the Intelligence Analysis Division, and was the head of a large scale technology project. After nearly 40 years with the IDF, he served as a Senior Research Fellow, at the Institute for Middle East Research in Washington, D.C. Notably, Major General Amidror served as the National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister of Israel and the Head of the National Security Council from 2011-2013.
Major General Amidror currently holds the Anne and Greg Rosshandler Senior Fellowship at the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies at Bar-Ilan University. He has written a number of publications that cover everything from intelligence theories to security reflections. His articles often appear in Israeli and international outlets.
