The Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs will host a Directors' Lunch with Lieutenant Colonel John Nagl on Wednesday, September 26th, in the Belfer Center Library (L369)

Lieutenant Colonel John A. Nagl commands the 1st Battalion of the 34th Armored Regiment at Fort Riley, Kansas. LTC. Nagl specializes in the training of Transition Teams that are embedded within Iraqi and the Afghan Security Forces. During Operation Desert Storm, LTC Nagl led a tank platoon and served as the Operations Officer of Task Force 1-34 Armor in Al Anbar, Iraq from 2003 and 2004.

LTC Nagl is a West Point graduate and a former Rhodes Scholar with a D.Phil. in International Relations from Oxford University. He served as a Military Assistant to Deputy Secretaries of Defense Paul Wolfowitz and Gordon England. LTC Nagl is the author of Learning to Eat Soup with a Knife and was on the team that produced Field Manual 3-24, Counterinsurgency. He has appeared on Comedy Central's, The Daily Show with John Stewart.
