Ambassador Kamarat has played a central role in improving U.S. - Pakistan relations in the past year, it it under his watch that the Unidted States decided after decades of deliberation, and with moch controversey, to provide Pakistan with new F-16 fighters.

Ambassador Jehangir Kamarat assumed his current post in November 2004. He retired as Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff and Chief of Army Staff (Head of the military) in October 1998. His senior level assignments included serving the roles of the Director General Military Operations and Chief of General Staff, and he also commanded troops in Saudi Arabia.
