As the Secretary-General's closest adviser on foreign policy, Kieran Prendergast enjoyed a bird's eye view of the events leading up to the Second Gulf War. He was also a witness to the turbulent period that followed the war and had the lead in formulating the UN's response until July 2005. However, Prendergast will be offering a purely personal perspective.
