In a speech he delivered in late January 2016, IDF chief-of-staff Gadi Eizenkot described the Lebanese organization Hezbollah as "the main rival the IDF has at this time." Yet as the Second Lebanon War of 2006 approaches its 10th anniversary, both Israel and Hezbollah now view their longtime conflict as one that is being shaped and stabilized by mutual deterrence.
