Questionable Warriors: How Masculinity Affects the Waging of War

Open to the Public

Feminist scholars have shown that states and militaries rely on men and women to perform particular gender roles during war. But how do representations of gender affect states' ability to wage war? This presentation examines the gender constructions of men who fought in the Russian-Chechen wars to shed light on the difficulties the Russian state faced in waging these wars.

Please join us! Coffee and tea provided. Everyone is welcome, but admittance will be on a first come-first served basis.
