The Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs will host a brown bag seminar with Brigadier General J. Craig Nixon, Assistant Division Commander of the 25th Infantry Division and Multi-National Division- North (Iraq).
General Nixon will provide insight into last year's developments in northern Iraq, Mosul and Kirkuk and through that prism address four strategic issues confronting Iraq and the United States:
1) Will the Iraqi Security Forces be able to contend with violent extremist networks? 2) Will the Government of Iraq have the capability to counter external influences?
3) Will the Iraqis be able to resolve ethnic differences peacefully?
4) What will the strategic partnership between the US and Iraq look like in 2012?
