The Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs is proud to host a Directors? Lunch with Ambassador Robert Hill, Australian Ambassador to the United Nations, on February 16th, 2007, in the Belfer Center Library (L369).

About

Robert Hill was appointed Australian Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in April of 2006. During his lengthy political career, Hill served in several leadership capacities within Parliament and the Liberal Party. He was appointed Ambassador after a distinguished career as a Senator, representing South Australia from 1981- 2006. Prior to the Liberal Party gaining control of Parliament, Hill held a number of shadow portfolios in opposition including Justice, Foreign Affairs, Defence, Public Administration, Education, Science and Technology. In July 2005, when the coalition parties took control of the Senate, Hill became the first government leader to command a majority in the chamber since 1981. With the coalition?s succession to power, Hill was appointed Federal Minister of Environment and, later, Minister for Defence.Hill holds a Law degree and an Arts degree from the University of Adelaide and a Masters of Law from the University of London.
