The Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs is proud to host a Director's Seminar on "Is Russia Now a Normal Country: Yes," with Andrei Shleifer, Whipple V.N. Jones Professor of Economics at Harvard University.
Prior to his work at Harvard, Dr. Shleifer was the editor of the Quarterly Journal of Economics. He was educated at Harvard and MIT, and previously taught at Princeton and the University of Chicago. He has published over 100 articles in the areas of financial economics, corporate governance, economic growth, and problems of transition from socialism. Dr. Shleifer is a recipient of several National Science Foundation Grants, a Sloan Fellowship, a prestigious Young Presidential Investigator Award in Economics, and, in 1999, the John Bates Clark Medal awarded every two years by the American Economic Association to the best American economist under the age of 40.
