Study Group: Problem Solving in Cyberspace Operations

About

Dr. Michael Sulmeyer, Belfer Center Cyber Security Project Director, will lead a four-session study group: “Problem Solving in Cyberspace Operations.” The study group aims to equip graduate students interested in cybersecurity with the conceptual tools to succeed in public policy employment in the field.

The first two sessions will provide an overview of attack frameworks and interagency roles and responsibilities surrounding cybersecurity. Sessions three and four will analyze case studies of notable attacks on both the public and private sectors to apply the principles of the first two sessions. While the study group is geared towards MPP and MPA students with a desire to work on issues relating to cybersecurity in public service, it will have broader appeal to those who wish to supplement academic knowledge with lessons from government experience, including professionals, researchers, PhD candidates, staff and fellows.

Dr. Sulmeyer brings an insider’s view and extensive experience in the cyber field, most recently serving as the Director for Plans and Operations for Cyber Policy in the Office of the Secretary of Defense. His full bio is available at:
